Penance, vows and sacrifice, Pilgrimages and charity,
Leave that seeker in ignorance, Who knows not the Guru’s worth.

The Guru verily is consciousness, There is no doubt He is absolute; Thus a wise man who seeks the truth, Will find it in his Sadguru.

Because of doubt and ignorance
Truth is hidden from the scattered mind; Guru removes it with His light,
The Divine Mother is revealed.
